In order for human consciousness to expand, the adequate instauration and sustaining of horizontal hierarchy - as opposed to vertical ones - in social life is necessary. Most activists and revolutionaries of today are reductionists who reject and rebel against one form of hierarchy only, a corrupted one: parasitic, limiting and coercive, a chief characteristic of the imprisoning edifices that predominate the world. All other hierarchical designs are misidentified or ignored, deemed corrupt.
Although artificial and ego-based hierarchies have been used for millennium by Earth's controllers (as well as leaders of humankind) to try and force labor onto the masses - thus engineering and draining energies, hierarchy in itself does not have to be malevolent, unjust or destructive. All forms of nature self-organize, generally in ways that promote greater order, connectedness and harmony. Are we really that much above other lifeforms that we can create our own laws?
One of the Druids' fundamental creeds was first to observe nature, and then to prescribe order for human society. How many of our human rights leaders today have a scope that encompasses not just modern man, but all of creation?
One example of a spiritual community with an horizontal hierarchy where members are asked to contribute in their own capacity is Auroville in India:
Quotes:
“The assumption that animals are without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality.”
